Snow on Mount Hermon
photo essay by Gabi Berger
Israel's diverse nature, people and geography, condensed to a relatively small area, make it such a fascinating destination. Although a rare treat in a mostly hot climate, sometimes it gets cold enough for snow, especially in the North.
Hermon mountain's snowy cap can be spotted from afar. It is the highest peak in Israel and the only mountain where snow can accumulate for longer periods around the months of January and February. If possible, we advise to go on a day trip during the week to avoid the heavy traffic on weekends, or to spend a long weekend exploring the Golan Heights' nature and wineries.
